Cold Damage

The unusual cold has taken its toll on the garden. The plants most impacted are the drawf red banana tree and the shooting star (clerodendrum quadriloculare).

The banana tree is a center-piece of the garden. We appreciate its beauty and its ability to provide welcoming shade to the deck. Unfortunately, the main stalk is showing signs of severe cold damage. The baby stalks look fine.

The shooting star is now a stick on a carpet of fallen leaves.

The rest of the garden looks to have weathered the cold. We'll see what tonight brings.

  1. My clerodendron did the same thing. :( There will be no flowers in February.
